Intro to my Gastric Sleeve Journey

So, back in October I told ya'll that I was planning on having vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Well, the journey has begun. I met my surgeon a couple of weeks ago, had a ton of pre-op stuff done, and am scheduled for about three weeks from now.

I did a video giving a brief explanation of why I'm having VSG. It's a little dark, and it starts raining partway through, so the sound quality isn't the best, but sometimes the car is the only time I can find to get these done! Enjoy!

Colonoscopy Results

Well, my colonoscopy went reasonably well. My colon is clear, good, not one polyp or anything. My upper GI tract however... not so much.

According to my gastroenterologist, my entire upper GI tract (esophagus, stomach, and duodenum) is inflamed, and I have numerous ulcers. They took multiple biopsies from each location and I should have the results in about 2-3 weeks. While we don't have a definite diagnosis yet, my doctor believes I have gastroduodenal Crohn's disease. If he's right, I suppose we'll be starting another journey down that road as soon as we get the results.

I'm trying to get more into vlogging, as that seems to be the thing lately. They're not the best. I clearly need to invest in a tripod or something. But there here. This one gives a little more info on how my procedure went. Enjoy!

Colonoscopy Prep

So... back in December I met with my gastroenterologist for a regular appointment, as I was overdue for my colonoscopy. In addition, he wanted to review the results of the labwork done on the kidney stone I had back in late October-ish. Ends up, it's "the bad kind" of kidney stone.

So lucky me gets to have a scope put down my throat to check my upper GI at the same time as my colonoscopy. Fun fun.

Here's a video I made as I prepped for the procedure. I'm new at this whole vlogging thing, so cut me a little slack (helpful tips are appreciated though). Enjoy!
